Better Coating Results With Pre-Treatments

Posted by on June 8, 2017 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Better Coating Results With Pre-Treatments

20780035240_2216dda01f_kClean metal by itself can be immediately powder coated but that will not give you superior performance and weathering characteristics. A good pre-treatment allows the powder coating to better bond physically to the metal, withstand exterior weathering, and prevents flash rust prior to powder coating.  Because of all the benefits associated with it, you should always consider adding metal pre-treatment to your coating process. There are a few of methods of pre-treatment. The first one is chemically etching the metal with an acid based product that promotes adhesion of the powder coating to slick or difficult to adhere to metals. Aluminium is typically a very slick substrate, so it needs some sort of surface treatment to remove oxidation and to etch the surface. Etching chemicals are usually more difficult to work with than the next method.

The second method of pre-treatment, phosphating, is used to improve the corrosion resistance of the product.  Iron phosphate is the oldest method of pre-treatment. It is a great way to improve the adhesion of the powder as well as doubling or tripling the corrosion resistance of powder by itself. In a pure steel fabrication process, it is the most common chemical pre-treatment. Zinc Phosphate is a more robust process that results in the best corrosion resistance for steel products that are meant for ships or near coastal areas. Besides etching and phosphating, a third method of pre-treatment is Zirconium Non-Phosphate pre-treatment. In essence, it is a combination etching chemical such as zirconium fluoride in a low solids acrylic sealer that bonds to the metal. This newer process is used for multi-metal operations and also combines well with cleaners for a 1-3 step spray system, depending on the chemical manufacturer. By using companies like envirotech-europe.com you can ensure that you have the right treatments for your metals whether this is aerospace or medical equipment.

If you are coating sheet steel, for example, you will usually only need light oil cleaning. Angle iron or castings often need sand/shot blasting to remove scale and surface rust. Aluminum is prepared differently than galvanized or regular steel; the oxidation layer of aluminum must be removed, which requires certain chemicals that provide a good etched layer for paint adhesion. Identifying which type of cleaning is right for your process is the first step in long-lasting, quality results.

Finally, your customer’s specifications will determine the cost and complexity of your pre-treatment process. If a tractor-trailer wheel needs to last 5-10 years on the road under heavy use in ice and snow, then the powder coater needs a superior pre-treatment process. A decorative base for an interior table would not need the corrosion resistance as the wheel, but might need a good etch or blast profile to prevent powder loss due to being bumped from time to time. An interior fluorescent light fixture would need neither improved adhesion or corrosion resistance, but would still need clean metal for the powder to be applied defect-free.

With all these questions answered, you’ll be able to implement a pre-treatment process that produces quality and consistent results for you and your customers.

Flooring That’s Great For Your Home

Today’s selection of hard surfaces can be overwhelming and includes hardwood, laminate and tile. For the average consumer, eight to twelve months go by from the time they decide they want a new floor to their final purchase date. Spending just a fraction of that time learning about various options can ensure they will enjoy their beautiful investment for years to come. Homeowners should consider the characteristics of the individual product and the rooms involved before making their purchase. Companies like arcflooring.co.uk can really assist you with this.

One drawback to consider for ceramic tile is the potential of chipping or cracking and the struggle to keep grout clean. Porcelain tiles can address both of these concerns since they are3 manufactured from a finer, denser body that is usually similar in colour to the surface glaze, rather than a white ceramic tile whose red-clay body stands out with each new chip.

Porcelain tiles can also be rectified or cross-cut to avoid size variation that comes with baked products. For this reason, rectified tile can be laid with either a very fine grout line or, in some cases, none at all.

Stone tiles are yet another option for consumers, but can be limiting due to their expense and upkeep. They require sealing to avoid stain and regular maintenance of the surface, which many customers prefer to avoid. In considering their options, consumers should take into account the rooms involved. More active spaces lend themselves easily to hard surfaces, but a formal dining room might be a better place for a hi-gloss wood, while a laminate is perfect for the kid’s playroom or den. Ceramic tiles are known for being softer and easier to cut than most other types of tile. This softer nature also makes them more prone to water absorption, and therefore means they have a lower overall resistance to frost.

Due to this absorption problem, it’s important that tile floors are kept dry to ensure years of use. This means that floors should be allowed to thoroughly dry each time you mop.

Ceramic tiles will almost always be among the least expensive tiles. They are not quite as durable as other tile options and will be best for people on a budget. Porcelain tiles are comprised of porcelain clays that have been compressed together through a process called “dust pressing.” This method creates an exceptionally strong and impermeable tile that is suitable for use in a wide range of applications. The water absorption rate of porcelain tiles is very low and they are among the strongest tiles you can buy.

The low porosity of porcelain means that bacteria and molds have a much harder time taking root in porcelain. This creates a naturally antibacterial barrier that is very easy to clean.

Glazed porcelain tile is more expensive than ceramic tile. Its expense depends largely on what exact density and style you’re looking for.

Tile might be a better option for an area that could be affected by water like the foyer, kitchen, utility room or baths. Customers who often prefer carpet underfoot in their bedrooms should extend hard surfaces into their hallways, since this is where carpet will show the earliest signs of wear. With hard surfaces dividing individual bedrooms, carpet can then be replaced in each room as needed.

Browse room scenes online and take samples home to see them with your furniture and in your lighting before purchasing your new floors. Then feel confident in your selection and enjoy their beauty for many years

Keeping Your Operator Licence Promise

Posted by on June 6, 2017 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Keeping Your Operator Licence Promise

You may remember filling in your application for an operator’s licence as though it was yesterday. If not, you’ll almost definitely remember the relief you felt after hearing the Traffic Commissioner had given you permission to begin running vehicles. Every heavy goods vehicle (HGV) operator agrees to a number of commitments when they apply to the Traffic Commissioner for a licence. Companies that deal with transport management like transporture.co.uk need to stay as up to date as possible on O Licence rules for this reason. These promises are always the same for restricted and standard operators, even though many restricted licence holders may not always see themselves as hauliers.4628756374_9088bea7b7_b

So with this in mind, when was the last time you looked at your licence document?

  • Your continuing commitment to compliance, safety and fair competition
  • Operator licensing, as you know, is about a continuing commitment to compliance, safety and fair competition. This is why there are a number of standard undertakings and conditions attached to every licence. They are your promises – the minimum standards that you have agreed to maintain.
  • So whether you are a scaffolder, run a skip hire firm or transport goods for a large supermarket chain, your operator licence commitments are the same. These are to:
  • keep vehicles taxed, insured and in MOT
  • check that drivers have the right licence to drive HGVs
  • keep vehicles and trailers roadworthy and not overload them
  • obey the drivers’ hours and tachograph rules
  • make sure that drivers do a daily walk-round check of the vehicle (recorded in writing) before starting to drive
  • keep vehicle maintenance and driver-check records for 15 months
  • not operate more than the maximum number of vehicles stated on the licence
  • operate only from the operating centre(s) stated on the licence
  • tell the Traffic Commissioner within 28 days, about:
  • any convictions of the licence holder or their staff
  • a change in maintenance arrangements
  • a planned change in entity (ie from a sole trader to a partnership)
  • a change in financial status (ie bankruptcy or entering administration)

Make good decisions every day about your vehicle and driver operations. These commitments also mean that traffic commissioners and enforcement bodies can identify and take action against those who are failing to comply. So whether you hold a restricted or a standard licence, you should embed these promises into the decisions you make every day about vehicle and driver operations. Remember, these decisions are the foundation of your compliance system and are there to benefit those operators who do things properly.

Drivers and operators who break the rules create a significant risk to road safety

Using another driver’s card to falsify a tachograph record is a serious offence. This kind of conduct undermines the principles of the drivers’ hours and tachograph rules. The rules exist so that employers and enforcement bodies, like the DVSA and the police, can check the genuine record of a person’s driving, other work and rest periods. These checks identify whether a driver has been driving or working excessively and if they’ve been driving while tired. Drivers and operators who break the rules compete unfairly against compliant operators and create a significant risk to road safety.

How Metals Are Used

No kitchen instrument or style of cookware has quite the same vocal, enthusiastic community as cast iron. They write books about cast iron. They write love letters to cast iron. They sing the praises of the metal with a religious fervour, and they want to convert you. Since you’ve come here to learn how to clean cast iron, you’re probably already a disciple. Cast iron does have some unique properties, some of which we’ve listed below.

  • It can withstand extreme heat, making it ideal for frying and sautéing.
  • It also distributes heat with perfect uniformity, preventing hotspots and burns. This also helps for making crusts and baking in the oven.
  • Because of its seasoning, cast iron is also non-stick
  • Cast iron is porous, and these pores are sealed with cooking oils. Not only does this create the non-stick surface and prevent rust, it adds flavour and verve to your food.Cast iron pan

You wouldn’t use a metal pretreatment services to clean your kitchen equipment, but you might choose to use them to clean your medical equipment if you were in a hospital or a dentist. So how do you clean this wondrous metal? Well, cleaning cast iron is different. The dishwasher is out of the question. Soap is frowned upon. Don’t be alarmed: the heat of cast iron cookware will kill any germs. Read below to learn how to clean cast iron – a versatile metal, well-suited for both professional kitchens and campfires.

  • Never use a dishwasher to clean cast iron. One drawback (a minor one) of cast iron is that it rusts easily. Once your cast iron skillet, Dutch oven, kettle, griddle, or other cookware develops rust, you’ll have to strip the cast iron’s cherished seasoning to get rid of it
  • To clean cast iron, you’ll need salt, cooking oil, and your stove. Many cast iron enthusiasts will insist that water and soap are never needed for regular cleaning. Instead, they rub their cookware with salt and then put it over a low flame to evaporate any moisture from cooking.
  • Lastly, apply a very thin layer of cooking oil all over the cast iron with a paper towel. This will prevent rust and protect the seasoning. It is best to clean cast iron when it’s warm; just like our skin, heat opens the pores in cast iron and helps it to release food and built up fat.
  • Store cast iron cookware in a cool, dry place. You don’t want to remove rust and re-season often – the seasoning grows more precious and flavourful with age. Keeping your cast iron cookware in a cool dry place, and using it often, will prevent rusting. If your cast iron piece has a lid, place a paper towel inside to absorb any moisture that may accumulate. If you don’t have much room, the oven is a great place to store your cast iron.

Just don’t forget that it’s in there when preheating the oven for dinner!

How To Effectively Unblock Your Drains

Posted by on May 26, 2017 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on How To Effectively Unblock Your Drains

There’s nothing sweeter than the stench of a blocked up outdoor drain. Not. Unfortunately it happens too often due to high traffic in toilets, showers and sinks. Having a blocked outside drain generally means calling in an emergency plumbing team to have someone come to give a strong jetting and thorough cleaning. No one wants to have to do this so keeping your drains as ship shape as possible is the best thing you can do to make sure you don’t have to spend anything extra calling someone out. There’s a lot you can do to help yourself and your drains. The more they get blocked up, the more possible damage to the system inside the walls. To save yourself excessive replacement pipework that will inevitably need doing, you should just take care of what you have before it gets to be a problem.22

Most minor drain blockages can be repaired with very little effort using an outside drain unblocker bought from a high street shop or with other equipment you can buy from a DIY shop or local supermarket. You don’t need to be an expert at DIY to unblock a drain you just have to be willing to get a little bit dirty and a little bit smelly! The first thing to do is figure out what is wrong and sometimes this can be a little disgusting so glove up and wear something protective over your clothes. Bathroom drains can be clogged up with hair, soap and basically dead skin. Kitchen drains tend to be clogged up with grease from food and most people stupidly flush baby wipes which can block toilet drains. Leaves and debris from the outside block outdoor drains for the most part.

Indoor drains can usually be unblocked with something as simple as a bottle of drain unblocker so there’s no need to call out Tunbridge Wells Emergency Plumbing. Poured into the drain before you go to bed will mean you wake up to clean drains both inside and outside the house. Rinse it out the following morning and make sure you stay safe – you should wear rubber gloves at a minimum when using drain unblocker, as it can be very corrosive and can cause chemical burns. If accidentally ingested or if it makes contact with the eyes, the consequences could be even more serious.

While it is more complicated to unblock an outdoor drain than an indoor drain, it is by no means a difficult task and shouldn’t take you more than half an hour. You’ll need a set of drain rods or failing that a really big stick like a mop or broom handle. Wearing appropriate protective clothing will mean any splashes won’t bleach your clothes. Pull the cover off the drain to get a good look inside. You might need to use a screwdriver or other thin, flat project to jimmy it open. If there’s a handle, but you can’t seem to budge it, tying some rope or string around it will give you better leverage and help you remove the drain cover. If the drain is full of water, the blockage is somewhere after the chamber. If it’s empty then it’s before it which can be in the soil pipe between the chamber and the plumbing system so if you want to give it a go yourself, work your way along the chamber and clean it out. Once you’ve unblocked the drain, run clean water through it to rinse any addition debris and prevent other blockages. Pour bleach down the sinks inside to make sure they’re totally cleaned through.

How To Find A Good Food Supplier

Posted by on May 26, 2017 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on How To Find A Good Food Supplier

When you run a food business and need online wholesale for groceries, it’s no overstatement to say that your choice of suppliers can be the difference between success and failure. And there’s a lot to consider. Price, yes. But equally important are things like delivery schedule, accreditations and – most important of all – food safety management. Here are some pointers to streamline the search for your perfect restaurant food wholesale.

Have a clear idea of what you are looking for

Finding a Catering food available online that fits your business starts with having a well-defined idea of what you’re looking for. So before you begin hurling questions at potential suppliers, you need to ask yourself some. Would you like ingredients to be sourced locally? Do you need your supplier to deliver to your premises at certain times? Knowing what you want before you begin searching will save you a lot of time, so it’s worth some thought.

Sweet potatoes are one of many high value specialty crops distributed by Pilot Mountain Pride Cooperative in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina. Pilot Mountain Pride a local food movement group, provides a network of suppliers and end users. Hospitals, restaurants and supermarkets in Western North Carolina benefit from consistent delivery, better prices, certified safe handling and a unified supply from a variety of local farmers. Local produce supplied by Pilot Mountain Pride was the only local produce branded by Lowe’s Supermarket’s. Pilot Mountain Pride was able to secure a Rural Business Enterprise Grant from the United States Department of Agriculture, Rural Development to purchase a refrigerated truck to distribute their produce.

Figure out the financials

As well as knowing what you are looking for, you need to know how much you are willing to pay for it. What’s your budget? How far are you willing to stretch to get the right food products? How much room is there for you to add mark-up to the products before they become too expensive for your customers? Is that mark-up enough for you to return a comfortable profit? Stretching for high overheads can put a lot of pressure on small businesses. Happily, you know your accounts better than anyone. You’re the perfect person for the job.

Ask about your supplier’s delivery schedule

Once you have found a prospective supplier, there’s plenty of information you will need to wheedle out before you can decide whether to work together. One of the first things to find out is how your supplier’s products will get to your premises. Do they deliver or will you have to send someone to collect them? Do they have a set time of day for delivery and does that fit with your rotas? And if you need your supplier to deliver fresh produce seven-days a week, is that something they can offer?

What are your supplier’s policies for food safety management?

Food safety is the most important aspect of any food business. And it’s something consumers are increasingly sensitive to. How does your supplier ensure the safety and integrity of their produce? Do they use temperature monitoring systems? Or automated food safety software? Where does your supplier source their products or raw ingredients from? If you are big on food provenance and traceability, you need a supplier who is too.

What industry accreditations or awards does your supplier have?

Be sure to ask for evidence of all food safety certificates and industry accreditations. You might also want to ask if your supplier has won any awards for their produce. It’s true that a lack of awards doesn’t signify a lack of quality. But when a supplier does have awards, you can be reasonably sure you’re onto a good thing.

Who are your prospective supplier’s existing clients?

A look at a supplier’s client list can tell you a lot about their philosophy and how they work. Do they work with multinational supermarkets? They can probably guarantee a minimum level of quality, but you might find them to be extremely busy. Does your supplier prefer to work with small independent retailers? Provenance and traceability will likely be important to them, but they may not be able to guarantee enough supply to meet large orders. If you’re feeling curious, there’s no harm in contacting an existing client of a prospective supplier to do a little detective work.

Impossible Climate & The Law

Posted by on May 25, 2017 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Impossible Climate & The Law

No one likes waking up early and going to work. Slogging through public transport and having to be up at the crack of dawn are just two of the least fun things in the world to do. If you have to get up early and travel a long way to visit the evil place that keeps your wages, then you will be fairly familiar with the ways that you can be scuppered when going to work. With night’s drawing in earlier and the weather becoming colder and more treacherous, going to work becomes more of a guess as to how many hours it takes to travel than it does the usual chore. In most countries like Canada and Russia have provisions in place for heavy snowfall where the UK totally fails.

USEDTo be fair, those countries are very used to heavy snowfall and wintry conditions and therefore they HAVE to make those provisions. In England, we are seriously ill equipped for strong weather. We have mild, wet summers and mild, wet winters so when we do get a freak snow storm that covers us in the white stuff, everything goes into meltdown mode. The disruption that happens across the country and the transport systems is ridiculous in a way because we have been in the position before that There are some interesting questions that arise when it comes to extreme weather conditions, one of which is whether employees should still be getting paid if they are snowed in and physically unable to travel to work? Or what if a school is closed because of the weather and a parent has to stay at home to provide childcare?

Snow is fun for everyone in the right circumstances but can be an absolute pain when it comes to work. The stress that comes with trying to get into work during impossible conditions can really be difficult to deal with on top of the financial worry that you may have to cope with. Companies such as lawfriend.org can advise you correctly on whether your employer is right to dock pay because of Mother Nature’s wrath! Generally speaking, an employee does not have a legal right to be paid if snow keeps them away from the office, but some employers may have policies and procedures contractually agreed especially when your workplace is based in a hard weather area. There are places in northern cities and in Scotland especially that make a point of being aware of the weather conditions for their employees and that can actually make for a much better, much friendlier employer.

This is because making a point of getting to know your employees can be crucial to success. There has been some suggestion that employers should have to pay when non-attendance is not the fault of the employee and that an employer could be challenged in court for withholding payment of wages. Given the lack of absolute right to be paid, and assuming there is no established procedure in place, an employee is likely to find it very hard to create a watertight legal case that they should still be paid. Of course, employers can always consider alternatives such as letting staff take the time as holiday where possible or create a provision for working from home. Handled well, employers can actually use the opportunity to boost morale. People don’t leave jobs, they leave bosses. The personalities in management are crucial to happy employees and if you are the sort of employer who makes arrangements for snow days and work at home days, then you will end up favourable in the eyes of the staff.

Obviously an employer should make a point of recognising those staff who do manage to come into work in difficult conditions and perhaps putting some kind of bonus in place for this situation is a good idea. If as an employer you would like guidance on how to deal with or plan ahead for staff problems caused by winter weather, or you would like to know as an employee, contacting a solicitor is a good idea.

Tax Debt: Ways To Deal With It

29920407053_8ff68e2df3_oIRS tax debt is a serious financial issue that should be quickly addressed. An Offer in Compromise is a settlement on your IRS debts so organising this is very important. If you have a tax debt from past years or have already done your taxes for this year and expect to owe money, you can always find a solution. The solution is not to ignore the debt and seeking the right advice from companies such as platinumtaxdefenders.com will help you on your way to tax debt freedom.

Don’t be ashamed to seek help; that’s exactly what it is there for! Finding the right attorney to help you on your case is part of the whole solution to your tax issues so get dialling today. Although the IRS has only ten years to collect on a tax debt, it has many very powerful tools at its disposal during those ten years and it can really take the stress off of you if you just deal with the debt now and fast than leave it. Possible solutions can include personal loans and savings, arranging instalment agreements to arrange a payment plan for your tax debt and an offer in compromise. If you owe an IRS tax debt, the best solution is to borrow funds or use savings to pay it. Better to pay that in full and repay a loan company or rebuild savings than have a blemish on your credit.

By paying the full balance when it’s due, the amount you owe will be much lower than if you request one of the IRS payment options, which will include penalties and interest. If you borrow against your home to pay the IRS tax debt, the interest you pay may actually be tax deductible. Be careful when considering drawing on a retirement fund to pay the debt as it could very well lead to additional taxes being owed. Check with a professional and the retirement plan administrator whenever you consider taking money from a retirement plan.

If you prepare your taxes before the deadline and realise you will be owing the IRS tax, you can file for an extension of time to pay. Depending on your individual circumstances, the extension can be anywhere from thirty to one hundred and twenty days. Pay as much as you can early to reduce the late-pay penalties and interest owed. Filing an extension will protect you from the late filing penalties which are severe. If you are experiencing financial hardship or other personal hardship like illness or a loss of financial records due to natural disaster, the IRS may grant a temporary delay of payment of your tax debt. In some cases, penalties may also be waived, but interest usually applies. You must contact the IRS to request the delay and the sooner you do this the sooner you can be helped. There are a lot of ways to get help when you encounter a tax debt and if you act quickly you can get this help sorted out long before any major penalties are handed to you.

Digital Agencies: What Do They Do?

Posted by on May 25, 2017 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Digital Agencies: What Do They Do?

In virtually all areas of digital marketing, you are dealing with a large number of unknowns.

The best search marketers on the planet will admit that they cannot guarantee where your site will rank in a year’s time, let alone one month. The same can be said for social media marketers, content marketers etc. As such, predicted outcomes are usually nothing more than calculated guesses. If you’re working with an experienced consultant, the likelihood is that it’ll be a pretty good guess, out even the best marketers are susceptible to overestimating their abilities, and not taking into account external factors. One of the best thing you can do, as a client, to mitigate against this 22is to separate fact from speculation, and differentiate outputs from outcomes. Ask your consultant to explain what aspects of their proposal are based on speculation, and what is/isn’t guaranteed.

Replace as many unknowns (e.g. revenue estimates, traffic estimates, and conversion rates) with real numbers, and be conservative. Better to be pleasantly surprised than unpleasantly surprised.

Once you’re happy with your consultant’s strategy and forecasts, expect them. In a famous experiment, Harvard professor Robert Rosenthal found that the expectations of those around us do influence our results, even when those people never share their expectations with us. Digital marketing is a process that takes time to reach a desired result. Think of it like running a bath – you can’t turn the tap on and have a full bath in a matter of seconds. Unlike running a bath, which fills at a linear rate (if you run a bath for twice as long it’ll be twice as full), digital marketing growth tends to happen exponentially in growth spurts. Take this website for example – here’s a screenshot of our traffic: Of course, the work in the first twelve months contributed to the 600% growth spurt, but imagine if I had fired the digital marketer (in this instance, myself) after the six-month milestone on the basis that we had only achieved a tiny amount of growth during this period? Had that been the case, I think it’s unlikely we would have grown by 600% in months 12-16.

The flip side of the coin is that you probably pay your consultant on a linear monthly retainer. It’s understandable that many clients get itchy feet when they find that there has been very little growth after months of paying for consultancy. So, when is enough – enough? Ultimately, it depends on a number of variables, such as the age of the business, the amount of time spent by the consultant, and the type of digital marketing campaign in question. For example, it typically takes longer to generate results from an SEO or content marketing campaign, than a paid search or social advertising campaign. Companies like southcoastmarketingroup.com can help you with your search. That said, virtually all aspects of digital marketing grow gradually, and then suddenly. If you’re not seeing a gradual improvement in your campaign over the first six months, it might be time to investigate the reason why. In defence of the great digital marketers who sometimes don’t achieve desired results, a lack of tangible results can be due to the client’s business model, or unwillingness / inability to implement recommendations quickly. Generally speaking, though, the issue is most likely to reside in the consultant’s strategy, especially if the business has achieved good results in the past.

If this is the case, be patient, but be ready to move on if you suspect your consultant isn’t being effective or generating the results they anticipated.

Ways To Make Your House Clutter-Free

Posted by on May 23, 2017 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Ways To Make Your House Clutter-Free

The main trait of a clutterer is denial. Who me? I don’t live in a mess. I can throw things away that are chipped or broken. I can live in a home without clutter! A clutterer is a compulsive collector who can’t bear to put worthless things in the bin (garbage) or throw anything away that is broken. They have to have all their possessions on show, and hence the always have a dusty house because it is so difficult to clean. At first glance their home looks like a tip, but it is often ordered, just very busy and full. So, can we cure the clutterer? Yes we can! They just have to want to change. With a little persuasion and a lot of heartache it can be done.22

  • Step 1 – Act like you are about to move house. Take everything out of the room. (Do this one room at a time or the clutterer just won’t cope.)
  • Step 2 – Bring back the most important things for the room. For example a living room, the sofa, couch, chairs, TV, stereo, side tables, or the bedroom, bed side tables.
  • Step 3 – Work out where all the important things sit in the space. Move them so the space flows and that you can move freely around the room. Then sit down and have a look around, breathe in, how do you feel? You should feel liberated. You will find that your chest feels lighter, the air seems to flow better, (could be something to do with Feng Shui), or just that you are not having to fight with multiple colours and textures around the room.
  • Step 4 – Start layering. Select a few things at a time to bring back into the room to decorate with. Paintings, pictures, a vase, a rug, lamps. Do it slowly and feel how the space is changing. Pick out the best items that you want to show, don’t use all of them. I have just heard lately of an expression called editing, it means select the best things you have and enjoy them, change them around seasonally or as the fashion you follow dictates, it is important that the room expresses the personality of the owner, but we don’t need their whole life story in one room.
  • Step 5 – Stop! Yes, don’t keep going. Less is better in a room. Put all the remaining items in storage until you are happy with the new space. Then after a few weeks, sort through it all, keep what is reusable, and donate the rest to a good charity or sell it on ebay. You can cure the clutterer.

This illness can easily creep back, make sure if you are going to add new things that you do it slowly and really consider their impact on the space, you may have to take something out to make room for it. If not, you will again suffer the dreadful fate of becoming a recurring clutterer. Companies like eggersfurniture.com is somewhere you can buy amazing furniture for storing all that clutter!

You can do this, we can cure the clutterer and create a potential interior decorator out of you yet. Give it a go now.

Good Luck!
